Dull old twat

I might have finally become a dull old twat but it’s not that bad yer knar.

Many moons ago a mate of mine said that I wouldn’t be anywhere near a competent musician until I was about 40, and now at 39 I rekon he was probably right.

It could have been feeling too desperate to acheive, or just feeling like I had nowt else besides music in my life, or straight up bad choices but I always felt a bit strangled by it.

Now I’ve somehow managed to stay alive this long and start a family and all that jazz I feel nowt but gratitude for what I’ve got in life and fuckin love that on top of it all I can spend a couple of nights a week playing with class musicians.

First and foremost, the Hot Sauce Trio – my main meal ticket. Getting in the pocket with John Timney (and more recently on occasion, Ross Gardner) then just sitting back and watching Rich Gilroy shine brighter each night is an absolute pleasure to be a part of.

Next up we’ve got the Nick Gladdish band.

If the top level songwriting skills of Mr. Gladdish himself aren’t enough, the fact that the band is made up of seasoned pro players who I’ve known for over a decade now makes every gig like a family reunion. Despite the completely contrasting personalities, there’s nothing but love and respect when the call comes a knockin’.

Most recently, the Shannon Pearl band.

Air, Earth, Fire, Water.

Spirit.

Thank you all.
